so far so good ok guys so my new HD finally came in today and I installed it. Everything seems to be up and running again. For some reason the failed HD made the whole CPU system not work. This is a lesson learned. I've been running it for about 2hrs now. Hopefully it's not something else...

haha so maybe I spoke too soon. I thought I'd try to run the PSU first and then plug it into the MB. This caused the PSU to turn off. So unplugging things here and there I think I've narrowed the problem down to the HD. Everything runs w/o the HD. now to test the HD on another computer...
