Also for future referrence, I was advised by an operator to also try reseating all of the jacks that plug into the cpu board. A similar thing could be going on there with oxidation or poor contact with the board.

SOLVED - I tried rotating the potentiometer back and forth with a screwdriver several times, and then tried again - now the claw is gripping again. So guessing there was some oxidation inside the potentiometer.

FYI, finally got the hasps off. What I ended up doing was surprisingly simple. I clamped on to the outside part of each hasp with a vise grip, then bent it out then in. After about 15-20 bends, it broke off inside, leaving just the slotted hole on the outside of the door and the welded on piece...

Thanks all! Since I don't have a grinder, I'll try to find the drill bit and give that a shot. I'll bondo/paint the holes as described afterwards.

I recently got a crane project machine which has apparently been vandalized. I'm trying to remove the hasp brackets on the coin door (see pics) and patch up the holes. Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks!
