The contacts on the board looked nice and clean. I saw nothing on the connector to alarm me. When I first turn the game on, I get about 4 minutes before it reboots. Then it just reboots and reboots and won't come back.
I replaced the power supply and it worked for about 4 days. There was still minimal gibberish on the screen, but the game worked. Now it's back to rebooting over and over. Is my board dead?
I wired the new power supply in, and the machine is no longer rebooting (so far) but I still have some random gibberish on the screen in some places. I'm going to let the machine on for a bit and see if it starts acting stupid again. I hope this fixed it.
I received my new power supply today, and it's a bit different from the Peter Chou that is currently in the machine. First, the Peter Chou has a 12v-2A, and the new unit is 12v-4A. Is this ok?
Secondly, the Peter Chou has 2 spots at the bottom labeled "AC". The new unit has AC-N and AC-L...
My replacement power supply will be here tomorrow. Need I worry about the little 5 volt knob on the power supply, or should it be good to go right out of the box?
Mine has a Peter Chou (brand) flat style. I think I can handle the crimping. So is the Happ Power Pro 200 the way to go? I can get a pack of 9-way molex plugs and do the deed. Is there an advantage of doing the Power Pro 200 vs using the 130W flat style?
The machine in question is an NFL Blitz 99, but I suspect this could be useful info for many machines.
My machine has a Peter Chou power supply. I suspect it is bad, but have not tested it yet. If it tests bad, do I want to replace with another Peter Chou style, or a Happ Power Pro 200 style...
NFL Blitz '99 - random gibberish and now rebooting.
My NFL Blitz 99 started to display random gibberish here and there on the screen about a year ago. It gradually got worse, and now the machine starts and reboots at random times. It never goes for more than 2 minutes before a reboot. Power...
Thanks for the reply. My machine has a switching power supply now, and a large transformer on the floor of the machine. If I get a non-switching power supply, do I need to change anything other than wire it up and go?
The problem I'm having is that the game developed portions of garbage...
