  1. Flipper Question

Figured it out - intermittent switch problem at the flipper base. When I flipped the other flipper, this vibrated the switch enough to allow current to flow briefly. Simple switch adjustment fixed it. -Dan
  2. Lamp weirdness - please help

Just wanted to let you know that this worked. Jumpering around the transistors is a cheap and easy way to troubleshoot them. Replaced ~6 transistors this weekend and the game is working fine except for my nagging flipper problems, which I will dig into later. -Dan
  3. Flipper Question

I have a similar problem with a flipper but it is almost certainly electrical. I am only getting power to the right flipper about one out of every two flips. When I flip the left flipper it corrects things and allows the right to flip. I have cleaned all the contacts. I will do more...
  4. Lamp weirdness - please help

I jumpered around the transistors last night and was able to turn on each of the lights full blast using this method. Thus, I am suspecting several transistors are bad. I will replace them and give it another try.
  5. Lamp weirdness - please help

I think that since the opposite lights up when shorting one of the legs on the other lamp to ground, continuity should be fine, no? I will still check as you recommend. I was thinking a lamp transistor or trace on the board got crossed, but I'm not sure how to check these out other than by...
  6. Lamp weirdness - please help

On my Eight Ball Champ I have a very odd lamp problem that I can't figure out. 1. Two lamps are constantly out during the lamp test, but when I short one leg of one of the lamps to ground, the OTHER lamp turns on very bright - much brighter than all the other lamps. It is the same case if I...
  7. Tumbling/Wireforms

Thank you. I am going to have a go at the plastic posts by soaking them in dishwater for awhile and seeing if the gunk comes off. Last night it seemed to be working okay, and since I am pretty anal about preserving as many original pieces as possible, I am going to see how it looks. Maybe on...
  8. Tumbling/Wireforms

I loaded up my new tumbler up with parts and a squirt of Brasso last night and opened it up this morning to find a lot of like new shiny metal - sweet! I also started using a Wen buffer on my playfield and it wiped off all the grime in minutes rather than the hours I've spent on playfields...
  9. Tumbling/Wireforms

Thank you. I am having a tough time with the wireforms but will give it another shot with a screwdriver while protecting the playfield. I am a devout Marvin user, but couldn't find the answers I was looking for there. Thanks for the tips. -Dan
  10. Tumbling/Wireforms

Let me clarify: The "non-art" plastics, such as the flippers, the posts, the pop bumper skirts, etc. -Dan
  11. Squawk & Talk Problem

Thanks for the advice, but I found a couple other problems on the board. I have sent it in to Jerry Clause for repair and hope to be receiving it back soon. -Dan
  12. Tumbling/Wireforms

Hi, I have two questions for about a resoration project I'm working on: 1. I recently ordered a tumbler to work on my playfield metal. Is it also possible to tumble playfield plastic? I would expect that this is a bad idea and would cause cloudiness in the pieces, but I'm not sure. 2. Is...
  13. Squawk & Talk Problem

Hi, I am wondering if someone can help with an elusive Squawk and Talk problem on my Eight Ball Champ. Upon powerup, the board's LED flickers once. The Marvin's guide referred to the IC in U6 being bad, so I replaced it. However, this did not solve the problem. Is there anything else I...
  14. EM Chicago Coin Olympics - Nagging Problems

Yes, that's true. It was actually a very frustrating yet meditative process, and now I have a slamming machine that is super fun! Thanks, Dan
  15. EM Chicago Coin Olympics - Nagging Problems
