Grey Wire Yes, I attached the grey wire to a black wire coming off the tube itself.

... When I do move the cabinet around it does get better but the discoloration does re-occur once I turn the game on after its been sitting for awhile... I disconnected the degaussing coil and manually degaussed the monitor. So far, the discoloration has not returned with the coil...

I have not removed the monitor from the cabinet as smalltownguy2 mentioned... I have rotated the cabinet and have seen results, however the issue comes back once the monitor is powered back up after sitting for a few days.
