    just make sure you provide enough space around the LCD for heat dissipation. LCD monitors are a lot more sensitive to heat than CRTs. I have seen many fail in cabinet conversions.

    You can use any generic assembly. Wattage doesn't matter as the new unit will contain it's own ballast and starter. I usually buy a small, single lamp florecent strip. Just tie the ground wire onto the cabinet somewhere.
