Friend found the final culprit, cap (c904) was bad in the HV section.
If any interest, posted a second video... if you look at the scores, you can see the gap doesn't change between the score and the edge of the monitor.
Asteroids crt video
Thanks for all the advice/pointers, much...
Friend did what was described. He said it did help a lot, it still does it some but not as bad. He sent this video, it can be a little deceiving as the camera is moving a bit also but I was looking at the score relative to the border and it doesn't seem to move a lot. I'll have to see it in...
The game is at my friend's house, he pulled the monitor again this morning and sent me this pic. I would say your were spot on, what's a good replacement spring? I can't really tell the dimensions from the picture but he said it looks like a ball point pen spring might even work.
Have an Asteroids cocktail with some slight burn-in that looks really nice. Asteroids, ships and shots are clearly defined and look very nice on this old crt. The one odd thing is that the image displayed will shrink in and then expand over and over, this is more noticeable in attract mode...
Thanks for the input! This rom must have cracked the legs because it has solder flowed on a couple legs. I had picked up a burner but never used it and didn't realize the mame roms could be used for the actual game, I guess I thought they were different. Good to have a place to buy the roms...
Have an asteroids cocktail, need to reburn one of the 2716 roms. Where can I find the software for download? Would also consider buying the needed burned rom.
Thanks!
