Dear fellow arcadees,
Rejoice! Finally an update on this months-long project. I figured out that many of the electrolytic capacitors are pretty busted, two of them being basically "fused wires" (I suppose that's what might make the two fuses blow in the end as well...)
Using the Kurz-Kasch...
I need to correct this: Actually, the correct wood / color type that Nintendo used is "Mahagony" - I found the closest match which is this one for future reference: Here - Sadly it's only available in 4,5cm height, 4,7cm would be better to actually cover the whole side - still, the best match I...
Indeed there is! I found one that has great pricing and seemingly is a very close match: https://www.idee-shop.com/halbach-stoff-holzfurnier-selbstklebend-braun-10cm-2-5m - I will let you know how well it fits in comparison with the original!
Hey Rod!
Thanks for the link! I will browse through all of their options and make a choice - I had no clue that these are available as a sticker type, I only know the ones that need to be heat transferred with an iron.
Cheers!

Hey guys!
We made some progress today, albeit extremely slow process:
Tracing the cables I found that on the monitor chassis there is a second power transformer: I suppose that's the one for the lower voltages for the PCB. See images attached!
I created a "sudo fuse holder" since the old one...
Hey guys!
Once again thanks so much for all of your help! Indeed we needed to lift up the monitor to actually see the typelabel of it - I have attached new pictures here. Also, I found out the monitor clearly is set to "230V" on the switch on its side, and it seems that all the transformers...
Dear fellow arcadees,
I am currently restoring a Nintendo Space Firebird cocktail table. Next week I will send the metal parts to be powder coated in the exact brown color. I need to however also fix the wood veneers since parts of them are broken off. The cabinet is in otherwise great...
Hey Guys!
Thank you so much for your help! I will try to make my own switching power supply then. The CRT is really a tough nut to crack... Nothing in terms of needed voltage is printed on the board. Does anyone of you know if I can damage it when I run it with 120V instead of 230V (just in...
Dear fellow arcadees,
I am currently trying to restore an Atari / Kee Games Quadrapong made in 1970, originally rescued from going to the dump. Right after buying and picking it up I noticed that the power supply seems to be missing - at least, the power supply plug is simply hanging around...
Hello!
My overall experience with the Elf multigame boards is: They kinda work. Still you should keep in mind that (despite being on a PCB) they are not much different from a PC running M.A.M.E. Sometimes you can experience audio lag or graphical glitches, certain games are emulated better than...
Caps broken?
Not sure if it is of any help, I did a cap kit on one of my older monitors and despite being brand new 2 of the capacitors were broken. Wasn't really possible to see anything cosmetically, they just didn't conduct any good amount of current / charge. I guess my best advice would be...
Hello fellow arcadees,
I finally managed to register on these holy forums myself. I'm known to be a crazy collector
of Neo Geo MVS games (Lucky to acquire a Twinkle Star Sprites kit for only 60$ Yesterday, best day EVER! Go ahead and hate me ;) ) and lover of Japanese candy cabs. My fascination...
