I hate it when these threads don't find some sort of resolution, fortunately this is not the case for this one. Let me update everyone to where I am at. Noting that the voltage readings were low on the various J4 pins I ordered a working one on ebay which took forever to get to me. In the...
I will look into replacing/repairing the power board. I don't have the tools nor have ever tried to re-pin my connectors but I am pretty handy and can likely figure it out. It anyone has a video that might educate me, that would be appreciated.
The ribbons seem to be difficult to find...
Interesting stuff, I think we are getting closer to figuring it out. So to update from your last posts.
Demogo I tried to turn up the voltage on the power board but it is already up all the way. Also I should note from your comments along with Mecha and Cdjump the reset button the stack...
I had to laugh at the battery comments. It hanging there was my bad, I pulled it off the screw when I cleaned the board and hung the board back and took picture before rehanging the battery. It is now secured where it is not pulling on the wires.
Anyhow I measured the voltage between A2 and...
I feel a bit sheepish about saying this but while I can work my way around a voltage meter I am not very good at reading schematics so I am not sure where to test to voltage output on the power board. By following the wires know the wires at the bottom of the board are inputs and the top are...
Everyone here is great and I appreciate all the thoughts of what might be the issue. Here is an update. I got Detox and cleaned off all the pins and connector cables. Once that was done I fired it up and oddly it returned to this stupid garbled screen. Here are a few more items I looked at...
I apologize. I am not sure how I made that mistake, I thought I posted a comment then I couldn't find it. Anyhow I don't want two threads so anyone reading this please continue on this thread and let's end this one...
Hey Demogo. Thank you for your reply. You helped me years ago with this same machine so I am glad to see you are still here assisting others with your valuable knowledge. Well, I had an interesting turn of events. After pressing the reset buttons and checking connections the game now turns...
Thanks Demogo. I believe you helped me trouble shoot a pot or something on this same game years ago. It is good to see you are still around. Well, a very odd turn of events. In switching the machine on and off and making sure all connections were tight the game is now working properly except...
Looking for some help on my Spy Hunter. It was working fine not long ago but a few days ago I booted it up and get a scrambled screen. There is no sound nor does it accept coins or register any buttons when pushed. Not sure where to start. At first I thought someone had moved the switch...
Fixed the hum
Thanks "The Yeti". After reading blogs and blogs of people trying all kinds of things will mixed results I thought I might as well give this a go since is it easy and inexpensive. I soldiered it on to the hum on my Super Mario Brothers went from being so loud you could hear it...
Talldude,
Did you get it fixed? Like others have said this should be a very simple fix. It is obviously one of the switches not counting. Mine did it from time to time and it was a connector that would come loose. What happens when you pull off the front board is there are switches along a...
Got it fixed
No matter what I did I couldn't get an image so I resorted to purchasing an new main board on ebay for $150. I swapped it out and finally got an image with the VGA converter. I ended up hooking up all the wires to their matching color yellow wire from the VGA to the main board...
Update
So it comes down to this there seems to be no video feed, how do I start troubleshooting.
After doing more research I found that the Yellow/White Stripe on the main board is a video sync and the gray wire and the yellow wire from the VGA converter board are syncs as well.
Here is...
