Ok. For my own knowledge. Is the -5 an actual voltage input or does it act like a ground of sorts? Never fully grasped this concept.

You were right on. started messing with the converter board and the screen issue corrected itself. Now the only issue I have is resisting the urge to play all night since I have work in the morning. Thank you again for your help.
