PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

you can see the object are there and look correct, they are just super narrow until it flips to the larger object. So, something is off in the small object circuit and I've replaced both 12N and 13N and also the custom at 13H and PROM at 12H. In fact, when I pull 12N or 13N it disrupts the...

PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

Here are some examples of issues with the small items (first pic) that then render good (mostly) once they become large (second pic). There are 8 pairs of pics. The exception is the Pole Position banner (3rd pair of pics) that still has a width issue even after rendering. I thought it would...

PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

Yes, thanks, been all through that. It's less an issue of the actual object (like the car or sign) and more an issue with the width (horizontal) of the rendering of that object. And it appears to only be in the small cars and signs.... but perhaps there is more I am not seeing. I'll post some...

PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

UPDATE: Actually both comments above have helped immensely, let me explain. First, I installed a PP1 Video board and it booted fine (showing typical graphic issues due to mix-matching PP1 & PP2 boards). So, that alerted me that the CPU board was fine. Then I installed a different PP2 Video...

PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

Looking for some help on a CPU board repair. I've spent some time over the past few days repairing 3 PP2 sets, and 2 PP1 video boards and I'm stuck on the last board, which is a PP2 CPU board. I need some help from anyone knowledgeable on the CPU boot sequence. I'd like to confirm it's the...

    Williams Defender Arcade Prototype

This would be (at least) the 7th "pilot" Defender found, with three of those being in the UK. Not sure if the one that is/was in Utah is included in this list, so that could be an 8th. Wonder how many are out there... Here are the known pilot serial #'s from those found: 438691 [438692]...

    Need help with Gorf

There is only one chip on the RGB board (the TBA530), so when I called out “bad chip on RGB board” that’s what I was referring to. I buy a lot from Peter, but you can get the TBA530 from TwistWrist for 60% of what APAR charges, that link here.

and yes.... you're missing Green so that's likely: bad chip on RGB board (small board between cage and monitor) bad connector or wire to monitor monitor issue bad transistor on PCB stack I'd connect a TPG (or another game) to that monitor and confirm it's not a monitor issue first. If not...

    Need help with Gorf

Ok, that was step 1 and it does confirm that it is not the boards, as disconnecting that connector severed the test switch from the boards and allowed the game to toggle back to Play mode. Appears maybe the test switch is always grounded out? check the wires and solder on the back side...

Who works on Super Cobra PCBs

With the Scramble/Super Cobra boards the sound issues are often just the amp. Save yourself a bunch of shipping and repair fees and just shotgun the amp. https://www.arcadepartsandrepair.com/store/integrated-circuits/misc-chips/m51516/

    Need help with Gorf

I’ve asked the OP to remove the controls harness from the Game board to determine if the game remains in test mode. As toggling the test switch apparently had no effect, it’s either a bad switch (which removing the harness will confirm and temporarily resolve), or it’s likely a bad I/O custom...
