OK...got a non working WG6100 with a P314 def. Board that has a chintzy little Atari labeled input protection board. The diodes at one end 4148/1n914f were crummed up and I replaced a broken 914 with a 4148...
got it up and running after a full recap and I get a weird picture with a collapse up...
OK, found an errata in one of the faq versions that says that Q600-602, Q700-702, and Q800-802 are all the same TPS98 NPN transistors. Can someone verify this? Also, what would I be reading as a 127...? Is this a good substitute, or is there some sort of modern "upgrade" for these circuits?
OK, sorry, but I can't read my schematics copy, and I can't find it in the FAQs, but what are the specs/part number replacements for Q700-Q701 (I think they're both the same NPN transistors)...seems like I can see a 127 on one of the "smoked" ones...can anyone help me with a suitable pn...
these are made in Italy...but you're right about there being no really good "standard" on these things, which confuses those of us who don't know all the numbers by memory!!!
Thanks all!
OK...Q900 in a wells-gardner HV unit is apparently a thyristor or some sort of "weird" atypical semi. I am getting readings that seem to indicate that pin 1 is actually the base, when I'm used to the center pin being the base obviously on most transistors...
Forgive my ignorance, please, but is...
OK...
getting tired of moving monitors around!
Does anyone have any premade 3-infinity feet (12pin??? I'm not sure) extension cables for working on wells-gardner monitors (or others) "out of the cabinet"? If not, does anyone have sources for the male and female connectors and harnesses so I...
OK...
update: last night I fried all the transistors on the chassis of my WG6102 after observing a slightly fluttery picture for about 2 minutes, with transistors that melted the insulators!!!
After this, found a bad diode at D702. Replaced it, replaced all the burned out transistors, and...
I have the "straight" P314 boards without the P327 piggyback upgrade...
I've measured the voltages on Jeff's board, and was getting ready to measure the chassis transistors before they blew...all that I got to were as they should be...
thanks!!!
