Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

New connectors arrived about a week ago for the audio jack. The PJ-376M part number was a perfect fit for the USBlinx board and the audio is now fixed. I can call this game 100% functional. I'll probably only goof around with this thing for the summer before putting it up for sale, I...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

I was thinking that the game selection is a bit ..... light. I'll get the sound working and then think about it more what I want to do. There's something to be said for keeping a game original, even if the original isn't so great.

Hit the nail on the head. I checked the LED's and while both the +12v and +5v were on, one of them looked obviously dimmer than the other. Fuses were good, so I started tracing back. Found, inside the PC, the wire loom heading to the USBlinx was looped back on itself and not actually...

Yep, I know exactly which wires to check for the Yoke axis, that'll be easy. I currently have no sound, haven't replaced that audio jack yet. I get no movement on the selection wheel to pick games, start buttons don't do anything, nor does the menu button down in the fake coin door do...

Closer, but not quite there. Image is inverted and still can't quite dial in the horizontal completely. Though it's terribly annoying with the horizontal hold being on the chassis instead of the remote board. Cap kit did help, and I did find a couple poor solder joints, but this isn't...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

Makes sense to me. Assuming the recap doesn't work (which I'm in agreement with you guys it probably won't), my next step will be to order the TPG. In the meantime I'll also look into that USBlinx fault you mentioned. For all the time I've had a couple games with monitors, this is the...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

I had to look up what TPG meant, and looks extremely handy. Just not sure if I can justify keeping another piece of test gear around if my collection is primarily pins. Digging more into the USBlinx, I was incorrect, it's not just a passthrough and does do some signal massaging. It...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

I unfortunately do not have another Jamma board at all. I'm going to try recapping first, and if that doesn't work I'll look into sending the boards out to somebody that does monitor work. Boards look pretty clean, no previous repairs at first glance. I can't visually see any components...

Adjusting the pot had no effect on the picture, it was the first thing we tried before pulling the boards out.

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

A local buddy of mine is coming over today to help me discharge the tube and pull the monitor boards off, and I've got a cap kit on the way. While I'm pulling these boards I'll probably sort out that audio jack issue at the same time. Perfect timing to find this game though, as I believe...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

I did get into the menu via the VGA monitor, and yes it's arcade legends 1, version 2.05 Had to chase down the USBlinx keybinding chart to find which was the menu key on the keyboard 'E' is the correct answer there. There's no horizontal hold adjust on the adjustment board for this monitor...

Left picture is the monitor chassis and the PC wiring. Right picture is the SN label on the chassis. Forcing the parallel port to ON causes my VGA monitor to drop the image after booting the kernal.

DarrenA gets some internet points for today with his hint, turning off the parallel port instead of auto got it to boot completely to the VGA monitor. Looks like the PC or HDD was likely swapped at some point, as I believe this is the Ultracade menu? I'll be back shortly, my pictures of the...

Monitor is a Wells Gardner M2574. Serial numbers on the monitor match those everywhere else in the cabinet. I am able to get into the bios, the video options I have are "On-Board" or "PCI". Neither selection changes anything that I can see. Strange they have you select the PCI option, as...

Need some help with an Arcade Legends 1 - garbled screen

Sounds good, I'll try to get into the Bios again either today or over the weekend and see if that helps. I'm just about to wander to the bone pile at work here to see if we've got a PS2 keyboard I can snag. I did find a few reviews that say the USBlinx is only a pass-thru for the video...
