  1. POLL: MultiVectors - which one are you using?

Zektor ZVG but not DOS - Linux 🐧 Spaceduel
  2. If YOU Worked At Atari, What Job Would YOU Have Had?

Lead programmer for Star Wars. Actually, that was Greg Rivera. He lives in this area and indulged me in a chat about the development of Star Wars.
  3. Multi-vector game PCB

I have a Linux version working if you're interested. PM me or grab it here: https://github.com/rhew/zvg-linux. In action: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showpost.php?p=2417881&postcount=27
  4. Another new vector game

I've asked Clay about releasing an SDK. Nothing yet but maybe after he and Neil release something official... BSG used a lot of graphics that lend themselves to a vector game: Also, check out Intellivision Space Battle (1979): ItVkq0ty8N0 It's Battlestar Galactica! That's the inspiration...
  5. Multi-vector game PCB

Here are the games I came up with that match the Space Duel Controls: Armor Attack Asteroids Asteroids Deluxe Demon Eliminator Gravitar Lunar Battle Rip-Off Solar Quest Space Duel Space Fury Star Castle War of the Worlds I think that a pair of top fire joysticks and a spinner adds: Alpha 1...

  7. One question and a price check

ZVGs are configured to draw traces twice as fast on an Amplifone: • 15us per inch. Used for the G05, WG2000, G08, and Amplifone monitors. • 30us per inch. Used for the WG 6101 series monitors. Can also be used to run the Vectrex at high speeds. (Should work but may cause some tearing, this...
  8. ZVG Computer Specs

Al's videos are extremely helpful. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL51665B28C8D84DA5 I went through three sound cards before I got mine working. All were Soundblaster/Live versions reported to work. You can find them or get them cheap but it's a pain.
  9. ZVG without DOS?

You bet: https://github.com/rhew/zvg-linux I think the right thing to do is to create a kernel device driver. If someone out there knows Linux kernel device drivers, parallel port programming, or the DMA interface, PM me. I'll be picking away at it in the meantime.
  10. ZVG without DOS?

The version I have will be slow because DMA support was dropped during the port to Linux. I was able to draw the attract screen for SPACE GAME (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=266650) but just barely. However, it has the advantage of being open source so any work contributed...
  11. ZVG without DOS?

I updated the project to build and install libzvg.so. https://github.com/rhew/zvg-linux/blob/master/README.md#installation-instructions The zvgFrame*Threaded() calls don't work for me. The regular zvgFrame*() calls do though.
  12. Another new vector game

Left/Right. It will share a cabinet with Space Duel.
  13. Another new vector game

I can't make it available until I replace those copyrighted sounds. They come from Atari (Asteroids), Universal Studios (Battlestar Galactica original TV series), and Apple (Macintosh, I think).
  14. Another new vector game

Thanks! I'm going the ZVG route for now. I hope to have it up and running in a Space Duel cabinet before too long.
  15. Another new vector game

The game play is inspired by Geometry Wars, sound effects by Maelstrom, and controls by Asteroids, AD, and of course Space Duel. Thanks all for the kind words - and especially the offer to buy it in a heartbeat. I plan to put it on sale for $500. Just kidding, it will be available for free on...
