well, I picked up a 3d printer and am still in the process of assembling it, but I've been 3d modeling professionally for over 20 years, so I'm hoping that combo will add up to something.
the only concern is I've never made anything that actually required physical accuracy, though.
for the sake of thread completion and future searches, I replaced the cap, put it all back together and the monitor is working fine with a good solid picture.
