  1. 1984: Hardest year in collecting?

Oh man I'd give anything for a Two Tigers dedicated. Has anyone EVER seen one of these for sale?
  2. Black Knight correct ball lock behavior

Hi I'm trying to figure out if my BK is working right. If there's one ball sitting in the upper lockup trough(sw# 41) at the end of a game shouldn't it get kicked out when the game is over? On my BK the ball just stays there so that when a new game starts you've got 2 balls on the lower...
  3. Username Changes

Hi I'd really like to change my name. Sending PM... [4/6/12 natmcl is now known as gorguy]
  4. Testing power on a Silverball Mania rectifier board

Looking closer I noticed the trace has lifted below the bad rectifier. Do you guys think this board is salvageable or will soldering in new rectifiers be a waste of time? I haven't checked for continuity yet. I've got a better looking replacement board but it's gonna be a pain to reconnect...
  5. Service switch problem with Blaster

Thanks for the re-assurance. It seems like just the act of rigging a shorting wire to the advance pin did the trick because it's working now. Looking at the schematics there's a lot of weirdness in this Blaster, ie: missing service switches and no memory interlock wiring. Also check out the...
  6. Service switch problem with Blaster

Hi, I've got a duramold Blaster and I didn't notice it's service switches had been removed until I changed the batteries with the power off... "FACTORY SETTING RESTORED" The manual says I now have to hit ADVANCE twice to get to game-over mode, so I have a problem. It's stuck on this...
  7. Testing power on a Silverball Mania rectifier board

Sorry I meant TP1 on the lamp board... Checking with the red probe on TP1, black on TP2(gnd) shows good voltage, but this makes sense because it looks like board gets its power from the solenoid board's +5 regulator. Thanks for the help guys I've spent the past 2 years slowly refurbishing the...
  8. Testing power on a Silverball Mania rectifier board

Thanks that worked. Almost certain it's bad rectifiers. On the rectifier board: TP1(feature lamps) shows almost no power. TP2(display) looks weak Other TPs show good voltage. The only thing I don't understand is that the lamp board is showing perfect voltage at TP2. But I guess that's...
  9. Testing power on a Silverball Mania rectifier board

Testing power on a Silverball Mania rectifier board Hi, sort of a newbie question... After replacing a bunch of 44 bulbs with new 47s all my feature lights went dead and I'm trying to diagnose the problem. I'm guessing the BR2 rectifier is cooked. Does anyone know the proper way to measure...
  10. Removing wood guides/rails for playfield swap

I just used grippy needlenose pliers from below with lots of elbow grease. Once you get a couple out on one side you can pry the rail up using a(cloth covered) screwdriver shaft as a lever to remove the rest.
  11. Roseville auction look bleek

Wow that's more than I figured but I guess he did advertise in Craigslist beforehand.
  12. Roseville auction look bleek

No it was just a Craigslist purchase I was picking up in the parking lot. Paid somewhat of a premium since it looks HUO and has a near flawless PF... It was a nightmare tarping it and hauling it back in the storm. Does anyone know what the Xenon w/ new playfield went for?
  13. Roseville auction look bleek

I was there Friday night picking up a Gorgar from a guy who had planned to bring some stuff and it did look desolate. I'd definitely blame the weather for the auction being a bust though since it's no fun hauling games in an open bed truck in the middle of a torrential rainstorm. Just wish I...
  14. Removing star rollovers

Great I got the stars out without breakage using Shardian's method. Gotta get a new flipper coil since my new sleeve won't fit. All bumpers are off, wiggled the spring out of the rod on the drain kicker so it would sit under the playfield. I got the plunger rail off but the side rails are...
  15. Removing star rollovers

Great I'll try the freeze spray on the coil. I almost tried heat but figured that might be bad.. Yes this Silverball is mechanically nice but the playfield is crumbling so badly that I have to clean out the paint dust after every game. Clearcoat is the only option. BTW removing these old...
