    Yeah, $800 is pretty steep. I have a complete one, minus the all important medium resolution monitor that was given to me. Of course, I'm still searching for the monitor. :-/ $400 max. $300 ideal.

    There's a brightness potentiometer on the monitor board, too. If it's really worn out, the pot may need to be turned up in order to see anything.

    Get a simple "solder yourself" electronics kit form Radio Shack. Practice on that. Once you get good at soldering, doing a cap kit is very easy.

  14. Can a Pole Position be bullet proofed?

    It's really not that bad. The 5V mods are simply running new wires to the 5V test points on the board. It gets a terrible reputation here and I think that scares people away from it. IMHO, it really is the "classic" driving game of the 80s.
