I confirmed the switch is NOT the problem, is it a matter of tracing the wires to the board somewhere and checking the solder joints? thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, and....arghh!, when I took the board out I do see a corrosion point at r135. How it corroded there I dont know, but at least I found the problem. I guess I'll try my hand at a repair. thanks again!!!

Hmmm, I taped up all exposed wires that might have been contacting each other to maybe 'throw' the monitor off, when I did that, I did get a picture again. But only for a short time, when I moved the control handles to move the tank, the picture went out. So does this sound like a wiring issue...
