I've had at least 3 Makvision monitors where the anode wire was laying on the yoke. Probably because of the heat after years of use, the red wire coating melted and started arcing around the same area.
What coil looking thing? All K7000 neck boards are interchangeable. Post a picture of your chassis and neck board.
So now I'm confused. Are you saying you bought this chassis "new to you" as working, but you never actually seen it working correctly?

If you turn up the Green gain and cutoff high enough, even without a signal, you will see green on the screen.
Like I said in my previous post, I still think you have a video ground issue with the colors . Did you try splicing a wire from video ground to power supply ground?

Easiest way to check the wire harness to see if the green pin is good or bad, plug in game board and meter it from game board to chassis.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you discharge the monitor before pulling the chassis if you plan on working on it.
