Project complete, back from the dead!
Okay, the project is done!
For those of you who are curious, here's a video of the functioning Toobin' marque:
(10 second, MPEG 4, .avi file)

Here's the final photo:
Thanks. The monitor could be better. It's perfectly playable. It has a very small amount of burn-in, but it's very slight. The main problem is that it has a slight side-to-side jitter that appears randomly. The image jumps maybe 1/8 of an inch back and fourth sometimes. Clearly some of the...
As fasr as I know, no one makes the side art or CPO *except* for the control panel end piece art. I bought those and they look great. That's what you see in the photos in this thread.
Yes the waterfall assembly goes behind the marquee. When the waterfall assembly is on and working and you look at the marquee, it gives the illusion that the water is flowing. You see movement in the water part of the image on the marquee. It's pretty neat. When I have the time I'll see if I...
Is t-molding used on the rear of these pieces? Ir doesn't look like it from the photo, but it's hard to tell especially if it's black. If the same MDF or particle board was used to fabricate those pieces the factory, that might have left a bare edge on the back side. I need to figure out how...
Update
I installed the newly fabricated control panel ends and the redone coin door assembly tonight. The waterfall is in and running well with new lamps and starters. The only thing to do is to fabricate the 2.75" squares that fit in between the control panel ends and the cabinet sides. I...
You know, I was wondering the same thing while playing today. Like most games, I'm really not any good at it to play long on one quarter. Thank goodness for free play.
Did you google it?
Update
The waterfall assembly is up and running well. I installed 2 new lamps and a new starter and it works well. It's great to see the final product.
I'm still trying to track down coin return buttons, but I think that's the last thing I need. I need to put the sticker on the other end...
Wouldn't the need for an isolation transformer be eliminated if the monitor did not use its metal chassis as a ground? Would that be a so-called "double insulated" design?
I'm looking for a set of red coin return buttons for an Atari Toobin'. The button assemblies should include the body of the buttons, the front faces, and the "25 cents" plastic insert tags. The fronts should be mostly free of scratches and cosmetic problems.
Thanks!
At this time I haven't decided to tackle the problem. The problem doesn't make the game unplayable at all. I just don't need another sub-project at this time. To start work on it, I'd need to pull the main board out of the monitor, inspect it carefully, and then install new capacitors. It's...
Complete end pieces
I have completed one control panel end piece. The other one needed some paint touch-ups, so it's drying again. Here are three photos of the completed left side piece:

I'm still waiting on the waterfall assembly to arrive. It will...
I would remove the laminate and then prep the woof surface by sanding, hit it with some primer, sand again, more primer, sand, and then use an appropriate paint.
