Wow....I'd love to have a hanging gas unit like that. It sounds way expensive to install a ducted system. What about the seperate thermostat too. I have a garage the same size that I cool w/a window unit. I heat it with, ummmm nothing. Consider yourself lucky. Are your games in the garage?
Re: Defender update..I\'m hosed
Would I desolder the multitude of attachment points and try to remove all the solder from the joints 1 by 1 until I can just lift the connector from the board? Then find a replacement, are these a stock item?
Defender update..I\'m hosed
Well I ordered my logic probe to diagnose cpu (game stuck in rug) and decided to reseat all chips. I assume I bent some ribbon (large ribbon) connector pins when unseating cmos. would not plug back in. So....I tried to bend them back and...yep. Lost 3. What now. SOL...
I'll get one soon. Of course I'll have look you up when it's time to use it. Thanks. Do you think I could fix this cpu if I had a logic probe? BTW who does the best board repair. Have you heard of this guy?

Thanks armis. I haven't used a logic probe since school. I now repair stuff at work by replacing boards. They don't look much like these either. I soldered on this board last night. Replaced the loose transistor I mentioned. Do you think I should stop now? Sounds a lot like the cpu to me huh...
Thanks brotherhay....I was thinking of exactly that method. But If I'd tried it w/o checking I'd have broken it. Better safe than sorry. So......check voltage to rom board and clean rom. I would still like to know of a good point to check +5,-5 and 12 on the cpu. I know power is good to the cpu...
I have copies of the schematics for the boards...no voltages other than power in that I can see. I will look on the cab door tonight. I will search for more manuals too. Is it correct to think that since my power is good and my monitor works that the problem is with one of the boards?
Update on Defender diagnose. Sorry to start new post but the old one is languishing and I need help.
Problem: Game boots as normal and hangs-up with alternating screens of ALL OK/RUG PATTERN, no controls or buttons function other than on/off. I checked the voltage at the PS and all was OK per...
Well I checked all the voltage on the harness at the cpu. All perfect (the unreg. 12 was 13.3). So I removed the board to inspect it closely. Well there was a transistor array close to the power connector with one transistor that was one leg short of being connected. It had come loose. I removed...
What is CMOS as it relates to the game(where is it). Please bear w/me as I try to get up to speed. I know it is basically an IC chip but how do I isolate and check CMOS. Thanks again.
