My favorite example is the Roland TR-808 drum synth.
They used a faulty transistor for the sound. Good luck trying to replicate that.

If a business was setup that would make new CRTs from the trashed crts from the stockpiles of broken crt glass. Perhaps the laws could be changed for the upcycling being done.
