Since cleaning the legs made it better, I decided to pull all the chips again and hit the legs again with some 1000 grit paper. Then, while I had the boards out, I reflowed all male and female header pins and looks like we're up and running again! No graphical errors.
Thanks for the response. I actually just finished doing that. Doesn't seem to be happening as often as before, but stull get the graphic errors. I think I'll try reflowing pins next as they seem to wiggle slightly.
Also did a double check on the PSU. I installed a brand new Peter Chou (side...
Hello,
I have a cabinet set up with both The Great 1000 Mile Rally 1 + 2. up until today (RiddleTV switcher incoming ) I have been manually swapping the Jamma connector to which ever board I wanted to play. TG1000MR 1 works perfectly no issues at all. The 2nd one how ever gives me some...
I thought about a splitter but not really fond of having to add additional power or having both boards running at the same time. Plus the cost is a bit high. I'm already way over budget on this one.
When ever I pick up a game I try my best to convince myself the condition is "good enough". It never works. Since I cannot source new art and I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to re draw the all the artwork in Illustrator.

Fully stripped cabinet. Heat gun and a scrapper made short work...
A few shots of the coin door before cleaning. Tore everything down and threw it in the ultrasonic cleaner. Did I mention that ultrasonic cleaner is one of my most favorite purchases ever? When I reassemble the cabinet I have some soldering to do as a few of the wires to the lamps have broken off...
The wheel was absolutely gross. years of grime, dirt, and Cheetos had been grind into the surface. Lucky for me the wheel was plastic (not rubber) so I was able to clean it by soaking in concentrated simple green overnight then scrubbing. Here is a shot of the internal gears which I removed...
Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what I started with. As stated above didn't plan on doing a restore thread so not many before shots taken.
Severely rusted gas pedal. Pretty sure my tetanus shots are up to date...
Pretty sure something was living and or died in here. Could not...
So almost a month with no uploads. Well turns out the weekend after I bought this game, my grail game showed up on CL. So I got a little side tracked. More on that restore later...
Very fond memories of playing this at TNT amusements :)
Just did this repair tonight and it worked perfectly. Lights flash as they should now. I also replaced the incandecent bulbs with LEDs. Just an FYI the triac linked is now obsolete. I replaced mine with MAC15MGOS-ND which can be found here...
The Great 1000 Mile Rally Restore - An ArcadiusMaximus joint
Starting my first official Arcade Restoration thread. I've done 2 pinball machines in the past as well as a set of Virtual On cabs. I'm looking forward to something a lot less complicated this go around :D
I picked up a semi decent...
Hi There
Picked up my first arcade this week. A nice Great 1000 Mile Rally. Just wondering would I be able to directly swap in the 2nd version of the game with out any issues? They both appear to be the same system. The only difference is it looks like the second game requires the brake pedal...
