So I decided to convert my 6800 jumperless pod in to a 6502 and here is how i did it.
Processor board Step 1: Change the cpu to a 6502A processor Step 2: Reprogram the eprom with 6502 code (I got mine from a fellow klov'r) If you decide to use the code with dual 6800 and 6502 in it you must take pin 19 and put it to +5v instead of ground. Step 3: Remove u12 you dont need it even if you convert it back to a 6800 its not required step 4: cut the traces that ive circled for you in white. Be careful not to cut to deep, The fluke pods are 3 layer boards the vcc and gnd connections are in the middle Step 5: Remove R7 (part of the self test circuit) Step 6: Install the jumpers were you see them i am working on a step by step but you still need a visual of the spot on the trace to cut. be carefull Note: When connecting the self test make sure pin 39 on the test socket does not make connection i do this buy adding a 40 pin socket with pin 39 cut off of it then remove it when connected to the board im testing Top side cuts ![]() Bottom cuts and jumpers ![]() Top side jumpers ![]() I/o board Simple take about five minuites to do Step 1: cut the one trace that i circled Step 2: Install the jumper Step 3: One jumper you can't see is form pin 1 to pin 20 on u3 or u5 Cut trace ![]() jumper ![]() I am working of a pin for pin instructions. I do have my copy of the schematics but its all chicken scratch and would take a doctor to read it. Last edited by xcelite; 01-06-2012 at 06:08 PM. Reason: Forgot R7 Removal step |

Update: Its has'nt seem to be a problem so far but there is a pull up resistor that is off the sync line thats missing. A 1k will do fine just attach it across Pin 11 of u6 to 5v

Excellent work, great pics. Thanks for sharing. Now if only you had posted this before I shelled out the cash for an actual 6502 pod.
