The City of Gold El Dorado, is that a redemption game or the Gottlieb pinball machine?

If anyone ends up going, I'd like to know what the DDR machines end at. I'm interested but can't really justify taking off from work.

Anyone have insight on how these types of auctions usually go? I've only been to Super Auctions so I'm wondering if these have great deals or if they end up overpriced. Sounds like some fun stuff to look at.

Would be interested in hearing the final sale prices of these machines, if anyone might have the time...
Should I organize shipping now ...?

Wow.. lots of machines in this auction. I'm flying into Chicago next week for work but one day after the auction. If someone gets a chance please let me know what the Killer Instinct, and Showtime/Blitz machines go for.

This guy bought 5 games off me in Oct then never picked them up
I end up giving his money back because I had to move them to storage for the winter.
Now I know why, anyway, he seemed nice and was always easy to get a hold of and even offered his truck to me to move some of my other games.

I’ll see if I can get off work to go.

I'll be going for some redemption games for our arcade. it's sad though, this place was up the street from where I live and I never got to check it out.

all the local places are closing up. I think my family's got the only "mom & pop" establishment left. closest other one I could think of is probably Hidden Cove, and they're 40 miles south.

do you know why they closed?

Yea, I wasn't really impressed. There were only about 50 people tops and most of the machines were junk. I picked up one machine and met one KLOV member "mecha187". I'll post up some prices tomorrow once I get my price list out of the car.

I went and took a 26' truck. It was a major case of bait-and-switch. All the best stuff listed on the flyer was suspiciously absent with no explanation. All that was left was basically junk - broken monitor tubes, trashed cabinets, missing boards.

I guess it wasn't that bad. Maybe a third of the stuff powered up and showed some signs of life. But it was not as billed or expected. Everyone was a bit ticked off.

On the positive side, the prices were right. They wouldn't let anything sell below $25, and a lot of stuff (like 1/10th) was left behind: "Let it sit". I heard later that they had made some deal with one of the buyers for all the "left behind" stuff. I wouldn't have hauled it away if they had paid me.

I bought maybe a dozen pieces. A few were actually pretty decent - a Jurassic Park III (about $350+10%), A Harley Davidson ($200+10%), and a 18 Wheeler (under $75+10%), all working somewhat. I also picked up a really cool searchlight (probably not working - $350+10%).

There were only 4 classics. A pair of Space Invaders in really nice cabs (as-is, probably parts missing). Sold for $175+10%. There was a Gameplan Tank Battalion cabinet converted to express raider. I bought it, but it was so rough that the cabinet fell apart before I could get it in the truck. Then there was a minty Space Zap cocktail that they threw in with a lot of about 10 enormous junk cabinets and said you had to take it all. They wouldn't separate out the Space Zap. So I dropped out and the whole lot sold for $100. Luckily, I bought it for $50 from the guy who bought the lot. I haven't plugged it in - it may not even be complete. But it looks pretty!

I was looking at gamplan tank cabinet prior to the start of the auction and noticed the base was seperating. I picked up the Soul Edge showcase next to it.

straight trash at this auction. there's no way these were operated within the last 16 years.

to answer some general questions:

there was no Blitz/Showtime.

the KI machine was NOT KI at all, it was Power Stone. I contemplated grabbing it to use the cab to replace my own where the sideart's a little messed up from when I stripped the black paint off. then I saw a big chunk was missing out of the side.

from what I observed on the 2 Blitz machines I bought, they had "Miami-Dade County" stickers on them, and they had business cards on the bezels for like "oldschoolamusements" on them.

90% of this game equipment probably wasn't from Smuggler's Cove at all. it was a bunch of garbage that got dumped. their game room wasn't that big, there was no way they had all these items in there. and who the hell has 3 NFL Blitz machines?

I bought the AvP showcase for $25. it's only missing a speaker grill and the monitor glass. otherwise the monitor's in AMAZING condition.

my Blitz machines both work, but the monitors are in bad shape. the 2000 one I might be able to just recap and rejuve and it'll be fine, but the 99 one, the convergence and purity are all separated and fucked.

I could've picked up some crane machines for cheap, but we maxed out our UHaul anyway. :D

my crown jewel win: a 4 player Colorama!

I'm amazed we got that big bastard to our location in one piece.

Dang.... AvP went for $25? Sorry the other stuff was garbage, but that seems like a good score there. I think that was a 33" screen in that one, IIRC. If you get the chance pics of that would be appreciated, as I was really thinking about making the drive for the AvP and a Daytona set.

There was only 1 DDR and (from what I was told by someone who inspected it closely and didn't bid on it) it was a bootleg built to run off a PS2 that was also missing the PS2 and boards.

lmao. The same guy that purchased the DDR also picked up the turntable konami game for $25.

Here's a pic of the Soul Edge 33" Showcase complete with three sets of keys I won:

The sound on the Soul Edge board isn't working right, so I swapped in a Nightstalkers CPS2 board and the sound worked perfectly on that one.

looks like you got shafted on a speaker grill too. :P

anyone know where one can acquire Dynamo showcase parts? I need a left speaker grill and at least the left mounting bracket for the glass. glass would be nice too, but I can live with plexi.

Both speaker grills are there, its just the flash from my camera. The sound also started working correctly as if by magic. lol
