Are you going back to black? White would look cool if there was a way to get a set of white side-art... otherwise, meh...

White sideart would be easy to do in Photoshop using the black sideart. Removing the black from around the art wouldn't take much time. Can't wait to see more pics- keep 'em coming!

Just use and xacto knife and trim off the black.

But the original art on a white Galaga had a black surround so what's the point?...

This might me a dumb question but is a Galaga cabinet the same size as a Ms. Pac cabinet? The restore looks really good so far once you get it cleaned out and painted it's going to look Amazing.

Yep they are exactly the same except for the fact that a Galaga has vinyl sides rather than painted.

Galaga and Ms. Pac are not exactly the same. Galaga's coin door is .5 inches higher than the Ms. Pac, and Galagas CP and bezel are set back about .25 inches farther than a Ms. Pac-man. Galaga's coin bucket area is like the Pac-man cab, not the Ms. Pac.
So yeah, the Galaga cab does have unique features.

I think his point was that sometimes original looks like ass. Which is probably why, at some point, Midway switched to a black color scheme.

Didnt the story go that the white ones were old bosconians? I thought the Galagas were intitialy slated to be black anyhow - they just used prexisting Bosco cabs and slapped the art on. At least thats what I always thought.
I have done a couple galaga multis (old pac cabs), and went with the white sides - looked pretty good with the existing art.
Again I guess im biased! :D

And yes, that is a galaxian bezel - customer liked that look over the galaga bezel.

The white Galagas were Bosconian cabs with the Galaga sideart applied over the Bosconian art.
I went the paint route and it looks good so far... More pics to come tonight...

Well if its only that much of a difference I think I could live with it. I was thinking of just copying my Ms. pac cabinet and makeing a Galaga from scratch since one has never come up for sale near me. I already have a NOS marquee and side art. I just need the kick plate, CPO, PCB and wire harness plus the monitor glass and I'm set to go. The only thing thats going to cost me a lot is the monitor glass and PCB the rest should be cheap to make a nice mint Galaga.

Awesome pics man...
I also, personally like the Galaxian Bezel on the Galaga(Thats what I have on my galaga).
To me the Galaxian's bezel looks a lot better than Galaga's colored bezel.
But It's all personal taste.

You should at least go ahead and make the coin door adjustment. The reason it's .5 inches higher is to allow for the artwork under it. If you go with the Ms. Pac spec. you'll be cutting off some of your Galaga kickpanel artwork.

Looking good. Would you mind getting me some photos of the L Brackets which the monitor mount to? I took a converted Bosconian which still had a horizontal game installed and turned it into a 48 in 1 galaga. I had to "guess" the monitor brackets.
Here is a couple of photos.

Just about complete... still need to clean and reattach the kickplate, reinstall the metal coin chutes (they are in my tumbler) and perform some monitor adjustments (another thread).
All in all I am very pleased...
