heres the monitor off my Zaxxon, the guy I got it off said it played when he bought it and his brother dropped it when they brought it home and broke the neck. I can find no damage of any kind on the tube except for the bent pins where the board was mounted. Why cant I straighten the pins and replace the board (board is cracked and 1 piece broke out) My question is who would have a board, and what would I have to watch out for making this switch, and what kind of sealant was holding the board in place

Hate to tell you but the guy was right - looks like the nipple is busted off the tube (usually in the center of the pins), thus, the tube is scrap. One telltale sign (but doesn't always happen) is that you see a sort of "sunburst" pattern on the tube face when it gets air inside, but yeah that looks pretty bad.

As for the neckboard - where is the broken piece and crack? I don't see anything wrong with it.

Also - whats the model # of the monitor? It looks like a Wells, but we need model #s to help. Should be 19K something.

sticker said CRT TYPE 19VLTP22, that the right number?
if it is, I have a wells 19K7901 in a parts machine, is it the same power rating as this one so I can just switch monitors then

The board is cracked on the right side, from just above the E in Voltage uo thru the brown square beside the number 12, and the piece thats broke out is just above and to the right of the brown square

Easy fix... jumper wire from the pads to the left of H10 to the top of R416 and another wire from from the pad above the T in Voltage to the bottom of R416.

From looking at the picture, that should take care of the neckboard.

OH, and if you decide to junk that chassis for whatever reason, save that flyback. http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/grin.gif

EDIT: Unless the reason you junk it is because of a bad flyback... then that'd just be weird to save it.

if the front of the tube still looks normal...

carefully straighten those pins and try it...

Its alrewdy effeed, but i have gotten personally lucky a few times and saved a few monitors...

that of course all depends of that hit let the vacum out of the tube or not. Ask the guy if they rheard a hissing or wooshing sound .. if not, you might just get lucky there...

I had a tube break, and it was very hard to spot the crack.
