It's time again to update the Forum software here. The change will bring some new features and some security improvements.
Feel free to check it out now on our test server now at New Forums -- Beta Site: <a href="http://forums-beta.webmagic.com/" target="_blank">http://forums-beta.webmagic.com/ (http://forums-beta.webmagic.com/) </a>
Feel free to post though any of your posts will be deleted when we re-import our message base next week. Every user who signed up for our forums before July 30, 2007 should be able to log onto our beta site. The Beta site is not accepting any new signups however.
Some noted changes:
1) This is an intro portal page now with system news and a bunch of stats about the site. Click on Forum List to see something a little more familiar. http://forums-beta.webmagic.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/cfrm
2) A number of users have requested that we change their user name, usually because their username is their real name and they don't want to be 'Googled'. This will be possible after the move, though all name changes will have to be approved by admins.
3) The new system supports Forum section dedicated to Photos. A sample one has been set up with junk images http://forums-beta.webmagic.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/32 Feel free to test this feature out but please resist the urge of uploading anything that might offend. There is just one test gallery at the moment for both lymphoma and arcade community members to try. I'm not sure how best to use this feature or not, so I'd love to hear your ideas of how/where forum galleries might be used.
4) Numerous other changes are there... It's easier to see your own posts, easier to clear cookies if your browser gets confused, etc. etc. etc.. Click on the 'My Stuff' and other tabs to see a bunch of new options...
If you find anything that we need to deal with or have any suggestions, please let me know as the forum upgrade is currently scheduled for early next week...
