View Full Version : Displaying our E-bay user names in signatures.

I have been requested to do a poll regarding users putting our E-bay ID's in our regular signatures.
I know its a very simple poll but this may go a long way in helping some of us sell what we don't need and others find what they do need. As for myself, I don't sell anything on E-bay but I don't care if others look at what I have been bidding on.

Maybe if you disagree with it, can you share why? If not, thats cool as well, just wondering.
me thinks its a good and bad idea http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/frown.gif http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/smile.gif
good for reasons previously stated but bad for reasons like if you have people who choose to target you for whatever reason, thats assuming they know you post here.
you are giving them an open invitation to possibly hijack your auctions. http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/mad.gif
i have a few user names but my main one is

Well, if you snipe your bids, people won't have time to see what you're bidding on and mess with you. Although if you're selling stuff and they want to screw with your auction there is that, but that doesn't seem super likely.

For the most part this is a great idea! On the down side, if you have a cyber-stalker (FMonk... I'm looking in your direction), it just gives them one more place to screw with you...
Since I don't go to the Moby boards (whatever they are), my ID is now public!

Well, my name's the same, so it's no big deal figuring that out http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/wink.gif
If you guys want to put your ebay names in your sigs, by all means, go ahead. I don't see anything good coming from trying to force someone to do that however. I understand the rational though, we dont want to be bidding up against each other if one of us isn't that serious about an item http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/wink.gif

I dont think we are in anyway trying to "force" you to. This was merely a suggestion to help others out.
Mongo
08-10-2005, 09:07 AM
No... no force involved. It was merely a suggestion that should help your auctions reach a specific but broader audience. You will also know that the seller has a good understanding of the games and should be able to answer your questions accurately.
On the other hand, I expect some bad feelings to spill onto this board because of disputes. Hopefully, this will be minimal. Since I am honest, and have yet to have a deal "go bad", I have no reason not to post my username. On the other hand, first time trouble crops up, I'll probably pull it from my sig..
In my opinion, the good will out weigh the bad (at least in my case). I don't have any on-line enemies that I know of. For others, it may cause problems...

Oh, I never thought there was anyone trying to make it mandatory, I was just pointing that out http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/wink.gif
I don't think I'll put mine in my sig, but that's simply because it's fmonk, so there probably won't be much confusion http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/grin.gif

I voted no but I am not big on it either way. I buy very little and sell nothing so it affects me very little. I do see most people's reasoning for doing so which I do think would help with out bidding other klovers. I am really not a big fan of extra crap in our post. There is nothing that important in anyones sig that would make it nessesary to have it posted every time you post. Either way no big deal to me, thought I would give my thoughts. ebay ----- becatholic----- Not that it really matters though. http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/tongue.gif http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/tongue.gif http://forums.lymphoma.com/forums.arcade-museum.com/images/ubbgraemlins/tongue.gif

One reason not to give out the ebay name would be because then you could see what other people are bidding on... Some people may not want to give out that info. That said, mine is zfcamaro.

I vote yes.
Yes because it really sucks when you are outbid by, or you outbid, someone that you know from the groups and you find out about it later. Especially if that other person really needed the part and you were just going for a deal.
If you are afraid of other people seeing your bidding history, then you are either A) winning perverted type stuff for your own enjoyment or B) winning stuff on eBay for cheap so you can sell for much higher prices in the groups.
****NEWS FLASH****
People aren't that dumb, they know what you won. Especially if they were bidding on it, lost it and a few days later you post it for sale in the groups.

I voted no, because there are cyberstalkers out there. This site has a great ability to be picked up on Google searches. I for one have done simple google searches of ebay sellers and found waaaaaay too much information about the seller than I ever wanted...or needed. But it did tell me they were someone that i did not want to do business with.
Sometime people are too open with their information, and it can and will hurt different people at different times. I am still trying to keep it private.

I leave mine off here, and not really for any reason except for you get the morons who decide they will make your life hell if there is a issue and they dont have a bit of logic to their thoughts.I had a buyer of timothy leary (dont remember if spelling is right) book on LSD. He moved from one mobile home to another (seriously) apparently and decided after tying to email me at some email address (HE MADE UP NO SHIT) and said oh i thought that was your email. I asked him are you serious and he said yea, i just thought it was your email@youremail.com While i own that domain (not the youremail) but as an example. He finally figured out how to use ebays contact seller *(Mind you this was three months later)* before ebay got smart and put cut off's. And filed a did not get with paypal. i had proof of delivery to the address. he said he still didnt get, So cost me 20 bucks to go through square trade and get the neg removed.
So moral of the story, My ebay user name is on ebay and can stay there :)
I don't really buy or sell much on ebay in general. So I just keep it on ebay, if there is any issues there is contact options on ebay. Don't need someone coming on here with a issue on a transaction if i had one and start some big back n forth thread when its a ebay deal. And I over describe so i plan on NEVER having any issues :)
So I dunno for me I'll Keep KLOV and EBAY as they are two seprate things :)
