Wanted to start this thread on my Centipede restore. I aquired this game off a good friend/KLOV'er rturb0. Cabinet in great shape, artwork still in good shape, CPO has some rust and tears but still decent. Included in the deal was a working game that had new set of artwork by phoenix arcade, a new CPO and a track ball bearing rebuild kit.

Missing was a monitor, marquee and a glass bezel. Which i have since added so now im ready to start.

My plan is to work on this daily weather permitting. I figured since really no cab body work needs done and all i pretty much need to do is strip/sand old artwork, apply some white paint/primer then apply new artwork. I plan on using black vinyl on the front.

Also need to clean this cabinet out and get rid of the cat piss smell. Very very odoress inside.

I have since started on this and stripped the previous CP. I ran into an issue that the CP was warped on both sides so Im currently looking for a new one. I dont want to apply my new CPO to this with the possibilities of it ruining.

Feel free to comment and add suggestions as i go. I dont want this to be a living restoration thread because im new at restoration work and would definately use the advice if you guys see something im doing wrong.

Thanks...

Here is the warped area of the CPO. I dont think this is normal.

My control panel for the pede i am working on had a similar bend in the CP. I just took a rubber mallet and that sorted it out. If i was a betting man i would think someone prolly used the control panel at one point as a stepping stoll maybe.

Looks like it is going to clean up nice. I still need to do body work and order the art and blue card bezel for mine.

My suggestion to remove the sideart is use a heat gun or just peel it off. Strip/sand is a lot of extra effort that isn't needed on these vinyl Ataris. I just peeled it off of my MC with no extra help. My 720 I used a heat gun to make it softer but otherwise it just peeled off.

Been awhile since an update. Kinda excited to continue this and kinda not since im not too much into cleaning up Cat urine.

Anyways with that being said my goal is to complete 1 of my project cabs per week until all 5 are done. Pede was stripped completely last week as i had planned on replacing the sideart and fixing the blemishes. I have since decided to keep my current sideart since it wasn't in that bad of shape and magic eraser cleaned it up just fine.

I had to fix the knicks in the front of the cab

Didn't want to spend alot of money on enzyme solution so i used Kills. Maybe in a few years ill sand it out but for now it worked after doing 2 bleach jobs AND some cat odor stuff from Target

Not really digging the hammered as it's more of a gray but im hoping it will blacken up in a dark room. I also hammered the top of the coinbox since it had Tempest written on it.

My control panel was decent. Used wire brush, citristrip and some goo gone to get it all nice and clean before painting. Same with marquee brackets.

Big Blue board cleaned up. Had to use wire brush on the bottom of the box since it had cat urine all over it.

Looking good. Who cares if you painted the inside to lock in the freshness? No one looks at the inside and you took care of the smell easily and cheap.

Your side art looks good. I wouldn't have removed it either. Here's mine for inspiration (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=87061.0) to finish this.

I didn't like the gray look either. I let it dry for a couple of days and put a coat of Rustoleum Universal satin black on my coin door and it turned out looking great.
